Short Itinerary

Early morning hotel pick-up in Cusco for the 2-hour drive to Cusipata, where we’ll stop for breakfast.

• Phullawasipata: Continue 1 hour 30 minutes uphill to the trailhead at 4,600 m.a.s.l., where the hike begins.
• Hike to Vinicunca: Ascend along a well-defined trail for approximately 1 hour 40 minutes to Rainbow Mountain (5,200 m.a.s.l.), famous for its vibrant mineral stripes in red, yellow, green, and turquoise. Time to take photos and enjoy the panoramic Andean views.
• Return: Descend the same route to the vehicles, then transfer 1 hour 40 minutes back to Cusipata for lunch.

Afternoon drive back to Cusco with hotel drop-off to conclude the tour.

Itinerary

Departure from Cusco

Early morning hotel pick-up in Cusco for the 2-hour transfer to Cusipata, a small community in the highlands where we’ll stop for breakfast.

Transfer to the starting point

Continue uphill for 1 hour 30 minutes to Phullawasipata (4,600 m.a.s.l.), the starting point of the hike. From here begins the ascent to Vinicunca along a steady trail that takes approximately 1 hour 40 minutes. The path is moderately inclined but well-defined; the main challenge is the altitude.

Hike to Vinicunca

Reach Rainbow Mountain at 5,200 m.a.s.l., where the vibrant mineral stripes—red, yellow, green, and turquoise—create a striking natural palette against the Andean peaks. Enjoy free time to take photographs and absorb the panoramic views.

Return

Hike back along the same route to the meeting point with the transport.
Transfer (1 hour 40 minutes) back to Cusipata for lunch.
Return to Cusco and transfer to the hotel.
